2011 BOV Charbono
Charbono remains an unusual variety in California, but it typically ripens better in our climate than its original home in Savoy France. Charbono can vary greatly from vintage to vintage so it is no surprise that we will find some vintages particularly good as with 2011 which we selected as the Best of Vintage (aka BOV). The wine has scents of boysenberry and blueberry with hints of lavender and lilac. The tastes are of black currants, blackberry, plum, cocoa and lavender. This wine will pair well with red meat or by its self.
Aged for 33 months in American and French oak barrels.
